Recycled Materials Association

Robin K. Wiener joined the Recycled Materials Association (ReMA), then called the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries, Inc. (ISRI), in 1989 to direct the association’s environmental compliance activities. On June 2, 1997, she was appointed executive director, after serving as association assistant counsel and director of environmental compliance. In March 2000, the board conferred on her the title of president. As president of ReMA, Robin leads the trade association for the $117 billion recycled materials industry, representing 1,700 member companies in the U.S. and in 40 countries that process, broker, and consume recycled commodities. ReMA members recycle metals, paper, plastic, glass, textiles, rubber, and electronics. The Washington, DC-based office manages an active federal and state lobbying program, provides environmental, health and safety guidance and training, tracks commodities markets, and provides a variety of other services to the association’s member companies. ReMA’s mission is to promote safe, economically sustainable and environmentally responsible recycling through networking, advocacy, and education. Robin has a JD from Georgetown University Law Center and a B.S.E. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania School of Engineering and Applied Science.
