As VP of the Mechatronics and Sustainable Packaging (MSP) group, Pat is accountable for the strategic vision, long term goals, and processes that develop, deploy, and scale Sustainable Packaging solutions and modular, automated mechatronics to the Amazon Fulfillment Network (AFN). The MSP team owns the entire packaging experience including selling partner design, first/middle/last mile, and total customer experience. With decades of experience in innovation, packaging, and materials science, Pat is accelerating Amazon into a new era of turnkey automated packaging and sortation solutions that improve operational efficiencies while eliminating single-use plastics and packaging waste from the network. Prior to joining Amazon in February 2022, Pat held various executive leadership roles across multi-billion dollar businesses where growth and innovation were core to the business mission, including President of Commercial Innovation and Sustainability at WestRock (consumer packaging), Chief Operating Officer at WL Gore (Gore-Tex®), executive advisor to private equity firm New Mountain Capital, and President of Performance Materials at DuPont. Pat holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Hamilton College and Ph.D. in Chemistry from Dartmouth College, where he is currently a member of the Advisory Board for the Guarini School of Graduate and Advanced Studies.
