CalRecycle’s Division of Circular Economy Deputy Director Michelle Martin oversees industry-run stewardship programs and circular economy investments to build California’s waste-free future.
Her team is currently leading the implementation of California’s newest Extended Producer Responsibility programs for single-use packaging and single-use plastic food ware, loose batteries, and textiles as well as new dealer cooperative systems that retailers can join to redeem empty beverage containers.
Deputy Director Martin’s career spans more than 20 years at CalRecycle in various roles to innovate department financial assistance programs, including as chief of the Financial Resources Management Branch. Her leadership continues to make a significant impact on environmental protections for our state, including steering our shift toward a more circular and sustainable future.
