Astrid Torres is a Senior Manager of Global Sustainability for Thermoformed & Flexible Packaging at TOPPAN Packaging. With nearly 15 years of experience across the full packaging value chain, she has built a career focused on packaging sustainability & innovation.

Her work spans raw materials, polymer processing, packaging design, research and development, end of life pathways such as recyclability and compostability, as well as regulatory packaging compliance across global markets. She has contributed to packaging development initiatives beyond the U.S., including Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, Mexico, and Canada.

Astrid actively contributes to advancing sustainability in the packaging industry through her involvement with associations including SPC, Flexible Packaging Association (FPA), Poly Coated Paper Alliance (PCPA), Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR), and others. She currently serves as Steering Committee Member for several SPC Collaboratives such as Store Drop Off (SDO) Film Recovery Collaborative, Paper Packaging Recycling Collaborative, and the Recycled Content Collaborative. She is also an Advisory Board member of the Producer Responsibility Program for State Recycling for the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, the Vice Chair of the FPA Government Affairs Committee, and a Board of Directors member of the SPE Flexible Packaging Division.

Her background is in Mechanical Engineering with an MS in Chemical Engineering and an MBA.
