Not only do these tours provide space for networking and learning opportunities, but also a great opportunity to immerse yourself in new experiences. Tours will take place on Tuesday July 14th, with the full event running July 15th-16th.
Tuesday, July 14
MM Group’s Frohnleiten Mill Tour
Join us for a guided tour and informal lunch at the Recycled Board Mill in Frohnleiten, Austria – an ideal experience for Sustainability Executives involved in secondary packaging. The Frohnleiten Mill is located 160 km (2 hours) southwest of Vienna on the eastern edge of the Austrian Alps. The Frohnleiten Mill has been producing paperboard from recycled materials since 1918 and is now one of Europe’s largest coated recycled board facilities. On this guided tour and R&D center visit, you discover how high-performance boards are made from waste, keeping valuable reusable materials out of landfills.
Dress code requirements: Please bring safety shoes if you have them or send us your shoe size in advance. A brief online safety training session is required prior to the tour. This tour is not open to participants from other competitive board producers.

Ara TRIPLAST
In Austria, the TRIPLAST sorting facility is moving us all toward a more sustainable future. At the TRIPLAST facility, they’ve fully automated the sortation of lightweight and metal packaging from private households, with 60 specialized sorting units, near-infrared (NIR) sensors, eddy current separators, magnetic systems, ballistic separators, and optical recognition modules. Join this tour to explore efficient resource recovery and advanced material flow management at TRIPLAST’s revolutionary facility.
Dress code requirements: Long clothing and study shoes required. Safety vests and helmets will be provided prior to the tour.

Constantia Teich Aluminum Foil Plant
Interested in seeing first-hand how aluminum packaging is produced? As one of Europe’s largest flexible packaging facilities, join us to tour Constantia Teich’s Aluminum Foil Plant, which produces more than 1 billion square meters of aluminum foil annually whilst using 100% green electricity. Transforming raw materials into custom solutions, Constantia Teich drives innovation in more sustainable packaging through advanced material testing and the development of mono-material testing to produce containers, lids and foils. Join this tour to get a flavor of Constantia Teich’s production and see how excellence and innovation can shape the sustainable solutions of tomorrow.
Dress Code requirements: will be announced (PPE will be provided) This tour is not open to participants of direct competitors manufacturing flexible packaging materials.

Spittelau Waste Incineration Plant /Spittelau Adventure Trail 1
By 2040, the city of Vienna has committed to transitioning its entire district heating system to be climate-neutral and completely free of natural gas. And for the past 50 years, the Spittelau waste incineration plant has been tirelessly committed to advancing these climate goals. Join us to see how heat is produced from waste and how Spittelau is setting new standards in environmental protections. On this tour, we’ll look down through the glass floor of the control room into the enormous waste bunker. Get an exclusive look inside the control center, where the entire waste incineration plant is managed — all while learning about the eco-architect Hundertwasser and Vienna’s waste and recycling system.
Dress Code requirements: For safety reasons, all participants must wear solid, flat, closed‑toe shoes during the visit. It is not permitted to carry bags, backpacks, umbrellas or walking sticks and the like. Bags and personal items can be stored in lockers on site.
Restrictions: Persons with limited mobility (e.g., walking impediments) and those with heart- or brain-pacemakers or pregnant women are not allowed to attend the tour. Each blind or deaf person requires a personal accompaniment. This location is not wheelchair accessible. We appreciate your understanding.

Guided UN Vienna Campus Tour
Step inside one of the world’s most important hubs for global cooperation on this engaging guided tour of the United Nations complex in Vienna’s 22nd District. Over 90 minutes, you’ll go beyond the gates of the Vienna International Centre for a rare, behind-the-scenes look at where international diplomacy, sustainability, and innovation come together.
Led by expert guides, the tour offers a dynamic introduction to the United Nations and the vital role its Vienna-based offices play in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals around the world. The tour takes in the history and architecture of the Vienna International Centre, and uses show & tell to explain the work that goes on there. Visitors will usually have a chance to see one of the conference rooms where international negotiations take place, and can enjoy some of the fine artworks on display, such as an original Hundertwasser tapestry.
You will have to pass a security check requiring a valid official identification document (national ID card, passport or driving licence; a paper copy or a photo of the ID is not acceptable).
Small bags may be carried on tour. For security reasons there is no possibility to store luggage at the VIC.
