Nicol Sobczyk Costello leads Circular Economy for L’Oréal Groupe in North America. She is responsible for driving business initiatives that decouple business growth from material consumption, including the pursuit of new circular business models, implementation of refillable product activations, proposing EPR business readiness strategy development, and fostering regulatory compliance through waste reduction, packaging collection, and recycling solutions. In this role, Nicol reports to the Chief Sustainability Officer for North America, supporting more than twenty U.S. brands.
Prior to her current position, Nicol spent four years leading Sustainable Development and Packaging for L’Oréal Operations in North America. During that period, she led the implementation of sustainable packaging strategy within U.S. brand roadmaps, answering to the L’Oréal For the Future program’s packaging commitments. Before that, Nicol developed and scaled new sustainable packaging design methodologies for recycled material integration, delivering environmental benefit to more than 200 products in the Professional Products catalogue within a 2-year period.
Nicol’s love for the natural environmental was born out of a mission in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil where she led hair color launch projects on the L’Oréal Brasil Consumer Products Development team. Nicol began her career at L’Oréal in Global Supply Chain Management. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University’s Eli Broad Business School, specializing in International Business.
