Curt Cozart is Chief Operations Officer for the Association of Plastics Recyclers, and President of Common Sense Solutions, Inc. a consulting company specializing in plastics recycling plant design and improvement.  With the APR he lead the 2014 development of the new APR Design™ Guide for Plastics Recyclability, and continues to oversee the improvement and administration of that document.  He developed APR’s “sorting potential protocols”, the world’s first pilot/lab scale simulation of the industrial recycle sorting process.  He also created and continues to manage the “Design Guide Training Program” used by global brands and package designers to help facilitate the creation of recyclable packaging. With Common Sense Solutions he has played key roles in the design and improvement of over 70%  of the US plastic packaging recycling infrastructure and provided technical due diligence for many of the major North American plastics recycling mergers and acquisitions deals. He has worked in the plastics recycling industry since 1991 where, as a project manager for Mobil Chemical Company he built the first North American film recycling plant dedicated to LLDPE stretch film.

Curt served domestically and overseas in the US Army as an engineer officer attaining the rank of captain.  He holds a BS in applied engineering mechanics from the United States Military Academy at West Point.

Curt was named a Notable Leader in Sustainability by Plastics News in 2024.
