Bjorn De Groote is the Director of Carbon Solutions at CO280, a leading developer of large-scale carbon removal projects that capture biogenic CO2 emissions from pulp and paper mills across North America. In his role, Bjorn leads the certification and carbon markets strategy, playing a key role in shaping how high-integrity removals are brought to market. CO280 currently has over a dozen carbon capture projects in development, helping to decarbonize the pulp industry through durable, verifiable solutions.

Prior to CO280, Bjorn shaped go-to-market strategies across several pioneering carbon removal ventures, including Living Carbon (afforestation), Ebb Carbon (ocean-based), and Sandbox Carbon (mineralization-based). His diverse experience across pathways gives him a unique perspective on what it takes to scale emerging carbon removal technologies. He began his career in sales management at Procter & Gamble, where he also supported the launch of sustainable packaging innovations. 

He holds an MBA from Kellogg School of Management, as well as Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Chemical Engineering and Materials Science from Ghent University in Belgium.
