Barak Bright

Sr. Director of Strategic Development

Sustana

Barak Bright serves as the Sr. Director of Strategic Development at Sustana, a North American recycled fiber manufacturer and circular solutions leader committed to improving the sustainability impacts of material manufacturers, packaging converters, and brands.  He attended his first SPC meeting back in 2009, which fueled his desire to pivot toward a career in Product Sustainability and Business Development.  17 years after that first SPC meeting, his experience and passion resonate as he works to help brands and stakeholders navigate their sustainability journeys in practical ways.

Prior to joining Sustana in 2025, Barak was the Director of Marketing and Product Development at Clearwater Paper, where his team drove the commercialization of the NuVo® and ReMagine® brands of SBS paperboard featuring a high-performance FDA-compliant PCR fiber.  Prior to Clearwater Paper, Barak was Director of Innovation – Fiber at Novolex, where his team commercialized and stewarded the growth of the EcoCraft®, DublLife®, and DublView® brands of sustainable packaging.  Prior to his tenure at Novolex, he held Sales and Marketing positions at E&J Gallo, Fort James, Sweetheart Cup, Solo, and Bagcraft.

In his time away from work, he enjoys attending concerts, cooking, being humbled by golf, watching Rugby, playing strategic games, creative landscaping, and collecting vinyl records.  Barak holds a bachelor’s degree in finance and economics from Eastern Washington University.  He currently resides in the naturally beautiful, but occasionally rainy, Pacific Northwest near Seattle.
